Description:
Song in the Night
is the true account of the events surrounding Kevin Thorson's spinal
cord injury in the summer of 1997, the trials that Kevin and his family
endured as they learned to live in the frightening new world of
disability, and the miraculous interventions of God in their lives.
It is written from a mother's perspective and frankly relates
the
family's struggles to live out their faith in the face of overwhelming
odds.
The book was printed through Pine
Orchard
Publishing

preserve the integrity of the story and present it to the public in a

Our Gift to You...
We know that times are tough everywhere this year. This holiday season will be especially hard on families going through financial, emotional, or medical crises. We've been there, and we know how hard it is to be hurting at Christmas.
This season, it is our great joy to offer you Song in the Night at our cost. Until the end of 2009, we will send you your very own hardbound copy for ten dollars. We'll pay the shipping, too.
There's no limit on quantities, either, so together we can share with others the hope that only the Savior can give – no matter what we're going through.
After all, it's His celebration!
An Excerpt
from Song in the Night
Preface:
Telling
the story of Kevin’s accident
has meant re-living the
worst tragedy of our lives, and so this account has been birthed
with many tears. Although we had requests nearly from the
beginning to write our story, I put off starting it for seven years
because the timing just never seemed right. I kept waiting for the
happy ending to arrive, the storybook ending, the part where
everyone lives happily forever after. But as we gained perspective
on a decade of struggle and hardship, I finally decided to take
the advice of a dear friend. She told me: “Write the
pain.”
So
here it is, beloved. Here is the
pain . . . along with the
good, the bad, and much of the ugly. Along the way, we have
discovered that “happy” didn’t fit the
ending we were really
looking for, after all; there’s a better word for it, one
with the
solid feel of gold and the pure, sweet sound of a psalm.
That
word, dear friends, is joy.
It took ten years of tears for
me to realize that the longer heartache and contentment walk
side-by-side, the more they learn to become companions instead
of enemies. Our lives, like rainbows, need both rain and light to
produce their glory. But we have to be standing in the right place
to see the splendor.
So
we
gratefully acknowledge our Lord, the One Who
works in our behalf, invades our lives for our own good, and
loves the child who seeks Him. Although this is the story of one
family’s suffering, it’s not about us at all.
It’s about our God, our
precious, wonderful, amazing Father, Who delights at the sound
of His beloved children singing—especially
during that long, cold
night before the dawn.
—Pam
Thorson
