     Home/ why me, God? pg2

Oh, that eternal "Why?"!  Believe me, we asked that question many times in the years following Kevin's injury.

The question, it seems, boils down to what God is actually doing on this planet, and how we fit into that plan.  There    appear to be at least three goals that God has at work upon our planet:

      1.  He uses hardship to get our attention and to make us ask the hard questions that lead us to Him.
The very fact that we're asking this question shows that He has succeeded in getting our attention.

      2.  He refines us through the fire of trial to burn off the unimportant things in our lives.

      3.  He proves to the host of heaven that humans can love God when there is no personal gain involved.

God is immoveable, powerful, and determined to bring every soul to its knees.  This necessary, not because God is a bully,  but because it is our brokenness that reveals who we are.  In the fire of trial, in the desperation of the night, our intentions  and motives become clear.  God knows how to strip our lives down to the foundation and show us for what we are:  fake or  faithful.  In the process, He displays His grace and the loyalty of those who love Him to an amazed universe - the things into  which angels long to look (I Peter 1:12).
Beloved, God is never confused, lost, or uncaring.  He knows the end from the beginning, and He knows where we are  headed.  His timing is impeccable, and He does everything perfectly, even when we haven't a clue what is happening.

So why is God doing this to us?  Because, no matter what it looks like right now, He cares for us.  In fact, He loves us  deeply, completely, and sacrificially.  He is the ultimate loving Father; and if we can trust Him with our todays, that day will  come when we will, indeed, understand... why.                                                                                    -Pamela Thorson

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God,
that He may exalt you at the proper time,
casting all your anxiety on Him,
because He cares for you.
I Peter 5:6 NASB
